Red Raiders Set For Southern Highlands Collegiate In Vegas

LUBBOCK, Texas --The Texas Tech men's golf team will face its most difficult test of the 2016 spring slate to date at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, in Las Vegas, Nev., March 7-9.
Texas Tech, which holds the No. 39 spot in the Golfweek Men's Collegiate Rankings, will be one of 14 top-40 teams at the event, which also features six of the nation's top 10 and nine of the top 25.
The participating schools are : No. 4 Alabama, No. 14 Arizona State, No. 18 California, No. 2 Florida, No. 1 Illinois, No. 17 Oklahoma, No. 10 Oklahoma State, No. 28 Oregon, No. 35 SMU, TCU, No. 5 Texas, No. 32 UCLA, No. 33 UNLV and No. 8 USC.
"We are very excited to compete in a field like this," Texas Tech head coach Greg Sands said. "In order to be the best, you have to compete against the best. Going against this level of competition can only help us grow and develop as a team."
Representing the Red Raiders will be: Hannes Ronneblad, Hurly Long, Wes Artac, Federico Zucchetti and Ivan Ramirez. Long already has two top-20 finishes under his belt this spring, including tying for fifth last time out at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, where the Red Raiders placed third as a team.
Play at the par-72, 7,510-yard Southern Highlands Golf Club will begin at 10 a.m. CT each day with tee times off the No. 1 and No. 10 holes. Live scoring will be handled by Golfstat.
