Women's Tennis Tabbed No. 17 in ITA National Rankings

The Lady Raiders enter the final weekend of the regular season one win from tying the 1987 team for the program's single season record with 20 regular season victories.
SKILLMAN, N.J. -- The Texas Tech women's tennis team came away at No. 17 in this week's Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings announced Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
The Lady Raiders (19-4, 4-3 Big 12) head into the final weekend of the regular season one win shy of matching the program's regular season win total for a single season with the 1987 team and one win away of reaching the 20-win plateau for the fourth time in program history.
Texas Tech has been ranked among the nation's Top 20 for the entire 2016 season and enters the weekend tied for fifth place with TCU in the Big 12 standings. The Lady Raiders are one-match behind of Kansas for third place. Tech is one of a trio of Big 12 programs ranked inside the ITA's Top 25 which include Big 12 frontrunner Oklahoma State (14) followed by Texas (24).
Gabriela Talaba and Sarah Dvorak check in at No. 96 and No. 99 in this week's singles rankings. Talaba moved up 23 spots in the rankings and has won eight of her last 12 singles decisions whereas Dvorak notched her third victory over a ranked opponent since March 25 with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 decision over then No. 125 Lily Miyazaki of Oklahoma last Sunday. In doubles, Alex Valenstein is rated No. 47 with Lynn Kiro and No. 90 with Talaba.
The Lady Raiders conclude the regular season and a stretch of five straight road matches versus Iowa State (Friday -- 3 p.m. CT) and West Virginia (Sunday -- 9 a.m. CT). The Big 12 Tournament will be hosted by Oklahoma State from April 28-May 1.
