SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Texas Tech women's golf team wrapped up the 2016 Big 12 Championships in ninth place on Sunday, in San Antonio, Texas. The Lady Raiders carded a 10-over 298 to wrap up the weekend at 25-over, good enough for ninth place as a team, just four shots out of sixth place.
"It was definitely disappointing," Texas Tech head coach JoJo Robertson said. "This was not what we expected coming into the weekend. More than anything, we played average and got beat by teams who played a lot better than we did. We find out tomorrow where we go for Regionals, so we need to put this behind us and look forward to next week."
Three Lady Raiders earned top-25 individual finishes, led by Gabby Barker, who tied for 17th. Barker entered Sunday's final round as one of 11 players at even par or better, but registered a 4-over 76 to wrap up her weekend.
Joining Barker in the top 25 were Sarah Brown and Kimmy Hill, who each finished at 7-over for the tournament, tied for 24th place.
The Lady Raiders will return to action at the NCAA Regionals, May 5-7. Four Regionals will be contested in Birmingham, Ala., Baton Rouge, La., College Station, Texas, and Stanford, Calif. Each Regional will feature 18 teams, with the top-six teams after 54 holes of play advancing to the NCAA Championships on May 20-25 in Eugene, Oregon. Tomorrow, Tech will find out its Regionals destination.
