Long Secures German International Amateur Title

DREIEICH, Germany – Texas Tech junior golfer Hurly Long won the German International Amateur Championship on the third playoff hole, last Sunday, in Dreieich, Germany.

Long, after firing a third-round 65 at the Golf Club Neuhof e.V., the low round of the tournament, stayed in the red in the final round with a 1-under 70, landing him in the playoff against Christian Bräunig.

Long's third round consisted of seven birdies after carding even-par 71's in rounds one and two.

Long's performance continues a string of solid efforts by Red Raiders this summer. Hayden Springer qualified for the PGA FedEx St. Jude Open, former Red Raider Clement Sordet played in The Open Championship and Red Raiders Federico Zucchetti and Wes Artac qualified for the U.S. Amateur Championship.

Long had a 73.89 stroke average for the 2015-16 season, ranking second on the team. Long recorded two top-five finishes and carded Tech's low individual round of the season, a 66 at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in February.
