Lady Raiders Foreign Tour Aug. 17

LISBON, Portugal --Â The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team completed their second day abroad today, in Lisbon, Portugal.
Here are the day's events as told by No. 24, Arella Guirantes.
Today we went on the tuk tuk tour, Where we went from the lowest part of Lisbon which was only 6 meters above sea level to some of the highest areas of Lisbon in just a little cart. We rode up and down many hills and the Portuguese call these hills "the seven hills" for religious purposes even though there are more then seven hills.
Our first stop was a beautiful view of the city, where we took many pictures. We also passed by the oldest book store in the world, the parliament building and a church that was built in the 14th century and destroyed because of an earthquake and was never rebuilt.

We learned about the Portuguese traditional music called "Fado," which means destiny. We went through a more modern area of Lisbon with bigger roads that were not mosaic (stoned). This is where we saw a lot more people and stores, and where most of the shopping happens.
Then we visited another panoramic viewpoint called the graça, meaning grace, and there we snapped more photos. We toured the oldest part of the city which has a lot of mosaic tiles and the Portuguese have them to protect the tiles in case of fire so it won't damage them.
After the tour we had free time and we all split in groups and went for lunch. My group went to a pub and ordered burgers and wings. After lunch we took the train back to our hotel and the rest of the day was ours to go shopping, go check out the beach and go try more food.
I can't wait for the game tomorrow and for us to get back on the court.
