Lady Raiders Foreign Tour: Aug. 23

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Before an 80-53 win over Barcelona Select on Tuesday, the Lady Raiders took in the sights in Barcelona.
Three Lady Raiders scored in double figures on Tuesday, once again led by 18 points from Brittany Brewer, who hit nine of her 12 shots. She was joined in double figures by Recee' Caldwell (10) and Japreece Dean (12). Arella Guirantes hauled in 10 rebounds to go along with nine points.
In the three-game Foreign Tour, Brewer averaged 13.7 points and 7.7 rebounds while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor.
"I thought in all three games we had the opportunity to run and score in transition," head coach Candi Whitaker said. "I love that our team is just playing basketball, reading defense and taking advantage of the opportunities they have  to score the ball. I thought as a team we played really well and shared the basketball. There were several extra passes made to finish possessions. We have room for growth but this gave us valuable experience and a jump start for this season."
Before the game, the Lady Raiders took a boat trip on the Mediterranean Sea. With a full breakdown of the day's events, here's No. 32, Dayo Olabode.
Today we went to the beach to take a boat trip on the Mediterranean Sea. Not a lot of people will be able to say they have done that. First, when we took the charter bus to the beach all we saw was boats everywhere. They had their own little section. There were also a lot of yachts that I wish I owned, but it was pretty cool to see.

When we finally got to the beach the view was amazing. The boat was pretty cool--there were two of them--one for the players and another for the coaches. When we came to a stop in the water it was so clear and so blue. It looked so beautiful. To start off, Ionna Zuri, Grayson and myself all jumped in. The water felt amazing. We cranked up some tunes and everyone was having a great time. It was so much fun.

We are now headed to the game. Everyone is pretty anxious and focused for the game because we started off a little slow last time out. However, after the second quarter we picked it up and played hard and ended up with a win.
