Texas Tech Ranked No. 19 in NSCAA Preseason Poll

Texas Tech earns second highest preseason ranking by NSCAA Tuesday.
LUBBOCK. Texas – Following a program first Big 12 Championship in 2015, the Red Raiders will enter the 2016 season ranked No. 19 by the NSCAA in the 2016 Preseason Poll released Tuesday afternoon.
The No. 19 ranking represents the second highest preseason ranking, after being ranked 17th heading into the 2014 season. The No. 19 ranking also marks the fourth straight season the Red Raiders have appeared in the NSCAA preseason poll.
Texas Tech head coach Tom Stone returns the majority of his defensive backline from the 2015 Big 12 Championship team that recorded 11 shutouts and held opponents to just 0.76 goals per game. Among those players returning for the 2016 season are two Big 12 All-Tournament Team selections which includes Big 12 Championship Defensive Most Outstanding Player, Lauren Watson.
The Red Raiders were one of two Big 12 teams to be named in the preseason rankings, joining West Virginia, which checked in at No. 6 overall. The poll also featured four teams on the Red Raider 2016 schedule with No. 18 Cal, No. 20 Arizona and No. 25 Loyola Marymount joining WVU.
With the announcement that Tech had been named to the NSCAA preseason poll, the Red Raiders have now extended their streak of being ranked by the NSCAA to 43 straight weeks, dating back to the 2013 season.
