Sands Signs Pair Of Talented Golfers To 2017 Class

Adam Blomme & Thomas Allkins join a talented Red Raider squad in 2017
LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech men's golf head coach Greg Sands has announced the addition of two signees set to join the Red Raiders in the fall of 2017.

Thomas Allkins (Lake Mary, Fla.) and Adam Blomme (Kungsangen, Sweden) have been added to the fold, bringing plenty of accomplished golf with them on both the high school level, and in Blomme's case, the collegiate level.

Blomme played for Odessa College, where he finished the fall as the nation's top-ranked junior college player.

"We are very excited about Thomas and Adam becoming Red Raiders," Sands said. "We look not only for skilled individuals on the course, but young men who lead by example in the classroom as well. We want student-athletes who are great ambassadors of Texas Tech as a whole, and we believe these guys fit that mold."

Coming off a fall slate in which they finished the schedule ranked 15th nationally, according to the Golfweek Sagarin rankings, The Red Raiders' 2017 spring slate begins with a trip to Hawai'i for the Amer Ari Invitational, Feb. 2-4, at the Waikola Kings Course, in Kona, Hawai'i.

The No. 68 golfer in the class of 2017 nationally, according to Junior Golf Scoreboard … was part of either a state champion team or a state runner-up team in each of his four years, doing each twice … recorded four top-30 finishes in 2016, including taking fifth at the Golfweek International Junior Championships … tied for first place at The 2016 Optimist International Junior Championships with a 4-under 284 … maintained a 4.2 GPA throughout high school.

The top-ranked junior college player in the nation for fall 2016, with a scoring average of 68.83 … took ninth at the 2015 British Amateur Championships and 30th at the World Amateur Team Championship … shot 19-under par to pick up a five-stroke win at the High Country Shootout, in Ruidoso, N.M. … placed 62nd at the 2016 European Amateur Team Championships.
