Softball Set to Host Odessa in Fall Home Finale

Tech continues fall with 4 p.m. first pitch against Odessa College Wednesday at Rocky Johnson Field
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech softball team continues its fall slate as it hosts Odessa College Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 4 p.m. at Rocky Johnson Field.

The bout marks the final home event of the fall for the Red Raiders. The game is open to the public with complimentary parking and admission.

Texas Tech kicked off the fall outscoring Midland College 18-4 in a doubleheader sweep of the Chaparrals Sept. 20 at Rocky Johnson Field. Pitchers Hannah Broseman, Cheyene Powell and Erin Edmoundson all got work in the circle, while freshmen Breanna Russell and Kelcy Leach hit home runs.

Odessa finished 39-16 overall last season with a 23-5 mark in Region 5 of the NJCAA. The Wranglers, now under the direction of first year head coach Jeff Jackson, won two games in the Region 5 Tournament before facing elimination at the hands of Midland College.

Tech head coach Adrian Gregory is 4-0 in fall matchups with Odessa College. The Red Raiders swept the Wranglers in a doubleheader last fall by a combined score of 21-1. The two teams also met in 2014 with Tech earning 10-6 and 8-1 victories.

Tech will wrap things up at the SK College Classic in Spring, Texas, Oct. 14-15, where they'll take on Trinity Valley Community College, Sam Houston State, Navarro College and Galveston College.
