Marcella Lamark dos Santos claims the Lady Raider basketball program as her next home.
LUBBOCK, Texas – This morning, the Lady Raider basketball program claimed another prominent addition to the 2018 singing class, as announced by head coach Candi Whitaker.
"We are very happy to announce our third addition to the 2018 class with the signing of Marcella dos Santos," Whitaker said. "Marcella is a talented 6'5 post player that is skilled on the low block, but also has the versatility to stretch the floor. She will have an immediate impact next season and complement our strong inside game very well. We love her work ethic and know that her growth will continue through this season and beyond."
During Lamark dos Santos' junior college debut, she averaged 8.4 points-per-game accompanied by a 4.6 rebound average and 219 total points scored.
"Cella is a great person with an unlimited ceiling on and off the floor," College of Central Florida Head Coach Tommy Jones said. "She is just starting to grow and realize her true powers as a woman and a player. I would like to think I've gotten her off to a good start, and I'm now handing her to a great staff that can finish the process. I call her a unicorn, because it's almost a myth that you get to see someone with her size and skill set. She has great feet, hands and mobility for anyone, but especially for a young woman her size. The future is bright for her at Texas Tech. She just needs to give it all she has to succeed, and Tech will make sure she does."
The Sao Paulo, Brazil native had a noteworthy season opening 19-point game for the College of Central Florida just last week with 11 rebounds to kick off the 2017-18 slate with a double-double.
"I am extremely happy to be part of the family and to be a Lady Raider," Lamark dos Santos stated. "When you are surrounded by people who share a passionate commitment and a common purpose, anything is possible."
Lamark dos Santos chose Texas Tech after considering Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
"Marcella is a highly sought after post player and we are very happy that she felt comfortable and at home here in Lubbock. We continue to pursue and attract high character, talented players who want to be Lady Raiders. Everyone please welcome Marcella to our family!" Whitaker concluded.
