Talaba falls in singles quarterfinals.
PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Texas Tech women's tennis team wrapped up their fall season on the third day of the ITA Fall National Championships on Friday at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert, California.
Gabriela Talaba started the day off strong as she collected a gritty 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory over the Michigan's Kate Fahey during the Round of 16.
However, the eight-seeded Talaba was unable to continue her momentum and dropped her quarterfinal match against Big 12 foe Bianca Turati of Texas. Talaba entered the fall season at a personal best and program single-season record No. 2 in the Oracle/ITA singles rankings.
Doubles pair Sarah Dvorak and Sabrina Federici also fell to Rice's Lindsey Hodge and Wendy Zhang to close their fall season in the consolation Round of 16.
Texas Tech turns its attention to the spring schedule which begins with the Michigan Invitational from January 13-15. The Lady Raiders will play their first dual match when they head to Seattle to take on Washington on Friday, January 19.
