Red Raiders Complete Day One of Nationals

Zarriea Willis led the group with her eighth place finish in the women’s high jump.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Red Raiders kicked off day one at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium with appearances from Charles Brown, Andrew Hudson and Zarriea Willis in the long jump, 200-meter dash and high jump.
Zarriea Willis cleared her opening high jump bar of 1.76m/5-9.25 in the first attempt to start off the evening. Willis then went on to clear her second and final bar of 1.81m/5-11.25 on the second attempt. This mark is Willis' third highest bar this season, qualifying as the No. 4 all-time indoor Texas Tech women's high jump record.
After becoming a last minute addition to the 200-meter qualification list to sit in the No. 16 spot, Andrew Hudson posted a 20.84 run to secure 11th place in the preliminary round. This run gave Hudson the lead mark over the No. 5, 6, 10, 12 and 14 qualifying positions.
After starting off with a foul, Charles Brown hit his best and only mark of 7.48m-24-6.50. This mark put Brown in the No. 14 spot overall. Brown will continue his NCAA Championships journey and look to push for impressive marks tomorrow in the men's high jump and triple jump.
Tomorrow's competition will begin with Trey Culver, Charles Brown and Viershanie Latham in the men's high jump and women's triple jump, both set to start at 3:30 p.m. Brown will then move on to the triple jump at 5 p.m. and the men's 4x400 relay will conclude the meet at 6:45 p.m.
