Gabriela Talaba Named Big 12 Player of the Week

Talaba earns fourth conference weekly honor of her career

IRVING, Texas – Junior Gabriela Talaba was named the Big 12 Player of the Week after a 2-0 showing in singles play and going 2-0 in doubles action.

Talaba earned two ranked wins over conference foes to help the Lady Raiders stay undefeated in Big 12 play.

"We are very proud of Gabriela and how much she has progressed," Head Coach Todd Petty said. "She had a tremendous weekend and was a huge part of our success."

On Friday, she defeated No. 37 Bianca Turati of Texas in two sets (6-4, 6-0) in Austin. She followed that with a win over the highest ranked opponent school history in a comeback three set victory (2-6, 6-3, 7-5) over No. 4 Blair Shankle of Baylor.

This is Talaba's second Big 12 Player of the Week honor and fourth of her career. It is also the fourth conference award for the Lady Raiders this season.
