April 22, 2017 | Track and Field
Four all-time marks were created at the one-day meet in Waco, Texas.
WACO, Texas – The Red Raiders completed the Michael Johnson Invitational in cool, windy conditions at the Hart Track & Field Stadium today with two new wind-aided all-time school record marks.
"I'm really proud of how they competed in these tough conditions today," Head Coach Wes Kittley said. "This meet helped to let us set the bar for what it is going to take to compete at conference coming up in the next couple of weeks. We've just got to stay healthy and keep our eye on the championship."
The day started off with a winning throw of 72.03m/236-04 in the javelin from Werner Bouwer. This sits eighth in Texas Tech all-time outdoor marks.
Trey Culver remains undefeated in the men's high jump this season, completing his third first-place finish at a stadium record 2.23m/7-3.75 bar.
A wind-aided all-time school record 100-meter run time was produced by Divine Oduduru, finishing first overall in 10.10 (+3.0w).
Less than an hour later, Oduduru ran a No. 5 all-time wind-aided 200-meter dash record time of 20.62 (+2.7w) for third.
This is Brown's fourth first-place finish for the Red Raiders so far this year.
Reece Timmons had a lifetime-best performance in the women's pole vault clearing 4.06m/13-3.75
Next week the Red Raiders will have their first home meet of the season against Baylor, Nebraska and Wichita State on Friday, April 28.
