Draws Set for NCAA Singles, Doubles Championships

Talaba, Maltby begin singles action on Wednesday
ATHENS, Ga. – The draw has been set for the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 25.

Junior All-American No. 9 Gabriela Talaba will face No. 17 Alizee Michaud of Auburn in the first round of play. The two have met in both meetings for the Lady Raiders and Tigers. Talaba fell in the first meeting in three sets (6-2, 3-6, 2-6) after having a one set lead.

The pair met again in the NCAA Sweet 16 where Talaba earned a three-set comeback victory (4-6, 6-2, 6-0) to clinch the match and send the Lady Raiders to the NCAA Elite 8 for the first time in school history.

Talaba has a 12-6 record against nationally ranked opponents this season and has defeated four Top 10 opponents.

The winner will face No. 21 Sinead Lohan (Miami) or No. 24 Brienne Minor (Michigan) in the second round on Thursday.

Sophomore No. 58 Felicity Maltby will meet No. 50 Kassidy Jump of Arizona State in the first round. The Lady Raiders defeated Arizona State during the ITA Kickoff Weekend to clinch a spot in the ITA National Indoor Championships. Maltby and Jump did not face each other in that meeting.

The winner will face No. 44 Anna Danilina (Florida) or No. 2 Hayley Carter (UNC) in the second round.

Doubles duo No. 26 Sarah Dvorak and Sabrina Federici will meet No. 15 Alex Chett and Maddie Lipp of Northwestern during the first round beginning on Thursday. The two have posted a 16-10 record this season and have defeated five ranked opponents faced.

The winner will face No. 38 Eleni Christofi & Kennedy Shaffer (Georgia) or No. 4 Jessie Aney & Hayley Carter (UNC) in the second round set for Friday.
