23 Track & Field Athletes Named Academic All-Big 12

Texas Tech has 16 first-team and seven second-team Academic All-Big 12 members named.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech track & field had eight male and 15 female athletes named to the Academic All-Big 12 first and second teams.
Tayler Jameson was one of 18 female athletes recognized for her 4.00 GPA. Â
Athletes named to the first team are: Kaylee Amershek, Hannah Bradley, Jocelyn Caro, Trey Culver, Riley Gonzales, Jade Greer, Kaylee Hinton, Tayler Jameson, Maggy Mulholland, Adria Parker, Christopher Scott, Reece Timmons, Ebenether Wondaferew, Blake Wood, Megan Wood and Lauren Younger.
Those named to the second team are: Marika Brown, Joel Latson, Amani Nesmith, Isaac Shepard, Hagen Stoute, Jasmine Torres and Joacim Zuniga.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
Texas Tech track & field will compete at the 2017 Big 12 Outdoor Championships this weekend, May 12-14, in Lawrence, Kansas.
