Hinton Primed for NACAC Capital Cup Championships

Sophomore Kaylee Hinton chosen to represent Team USA in the 2017 Capital Cup Combined Events Championships
LUBBOCK, Texas – Heptathlete Kaylee Hinton was selected to represent Team USA in the 2017 NACAC Capital Cup Combined Events Championships in Ottawa, Canada, on July 4-5.
Hinton's heptathlon competition will begin on Tuesday at 9 a.m. CDT with the 100-meter hurdles. Wednesday's competition will start at 12 p.m. CDT with the long jump competition.
In all three of Hinton's 2017 heptathlon performances, she notched all-time Texas Tech top-10 record marks. Her Big 12 Outdoor Championship showing allowed her to claim not only the championship crown, but also the all-time Texas Tech record with her total of 5,869 points. This lifetime-best performance beat out the previous school record by 135 points, making her the No. 5 ranked heptathlete in the nation heading into nationals.
In Eugene, Oregon, Hinton made her first nationals appearance and was named a First Team All-American for her 5,580 point total, giving her an eighth-place finish overall.
This is Hinton's third time representing her country in the heptathlon, as she competed in the IAAF World U20 Championships in Poland last year, placing 16th overall and the Pan American Junior Championships in 2015 where she reigned as the meet champion. Â Â Â Â
