Texas Tech held its Local Media Day event Sunday afternoon inside Jones AT&T Stadium
LUBBOCK, Texas – The start of the 2017 football season officially began Sunday afternoon as the Red Raiders reported for their first team meeting held inside the Football Training Facility.
Â
Tech opened the day with its annual Local Media Day event where head coach Kliff Kingsbury and over 20 Red Raiders met one-on-one with various news organizations from across the South Plains.
Â
Multiple offices throughout the Tech Athletics Department then met with the Red Raiders in their late afternoon meeting before Kingsbury and his staff held several team activities to kick off a new year. The Red Raiders host their first practice of the 2017 campaign Monday afternoon.
Â
The first week of workouts will consist of an open scrimmage this Saturday inside Jones AT&T Stadium. The scrimmage will run from 3-4 p.m. and is open to the public via the Gate 1 entrance to the facility.
Â
The Red Raiders will have roughly five weeks before opening their fifth season under Kingsbury on Sept. 2 when Eastern Washington travels to Jones AT&T Stadium. Tech will also host the likes of Pac-12 foe Arizona State as well as Big 12 members Kansas State, TCU, Oklahoma State and Iowa State over the course of the season.
Â
Season tickets are still on sale for as low as $184 a seat and can be purchased online or by contacting the Tech Ticket Office at 806-742-TECH. The list of ticket options for 2017 includes the "Red Raider Pass," a mobile-only selection designed for recent Texas Tech graduates looking for an affordable and convenient ticket plan. The "Red Raider Pass" is on sale for $150 a seat and can be purchased by visiting www.TexasTech.com/RedRaiderPass.
