The Red Raiders held their first official practice of the 2017 season on Monday
The Texas Tech football team held its first official practice of the 2017 season on Monday, in both the brand-new Sports Performance Center, and on the practice fields behind the Football Training Facility.
The Sports Performance Center, the crowned jewel of the Campaign For Fearless Champions, immediately proved its worth as weather advisories pushed the beginning of practice indoors. This was a welcome change from the opening practice of the 2016 season, which was delayed for an hour due to inclement weather.
After pre-practice stretching and warm-ups, some individual position work and a team period, the weather had passed and the Red Raiders moved practice outdoors.
From there, Tech took part in more individual position work, seven-on-seven drills, one-on-one drills between receivers and defensive backs and a special teams period before finishing practice with the first and second-team offenses facing off against the first and second-team defenses.
The Red Raiders return to practice tomorrow in preparation for the season opener against Eastern Washington on Sept. 2, which is now only 33 days away.
Season tickets are still on sale for as low as $184 a seat and can be purchased online or by contacting the Tech Ticket Office at 806-742-TECH. The list of ticket options for 2017 includes the "Red Raider Pass," a mobile-only selection designed for recent Texas Tech graduates looking for an affordable and convenient ticket plan. The "Red Raider Pass" is on sale for $150 a seat and can be purchased by visiting www.TexasTech.com/RedRaiderPass.
