Lady Raider Tennis Finds Success on Pro Circuit

Senior Gabriela Talaba leads team with two pro titles
LUBBOCK, Texas – Along with an illustrious collegiate season that was highlighted by two Big 12 titles, a trip to the NCAA Tournament, an Elite Eight appearance and the program's first All-American athlete, the Texas Tech Women's Tennis team had another successful season on the professional circuit.

In the last year, the Lady Raiders have qualified for four semifinals, four finals, earned four titles and totaled 156 points in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Â

Senior Gabriela Talaba led the charge as she capped this season winning two of the four titles just this weekend in Romania.
Â
Talaba defeated several Top 600 players en route to her third and fourth professional titles as she claimed the singles and doubles crowns last weekend.

Junior Felicity Maltby won the singles title at the ITA Summer Circuit event hosted at the McLeod Tennis Center. She secured a wild card into the main draw of the ITA National Summer Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, hosted by TCU (Aug. 12-15).

Maltby and senior Sarah Dvorak finished runners-up in the doubles competition of the ITA Summer Circuit. The two earned the top-seeded spot in the qualifying draw of the tournament.

The Lady Raiders begin the 2017-18 season at the Midland Invitational on Sept. 15.
