LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech soccer's Jordie Harr has been named to the 2017 Preseason All-Big 12 team, the league announced today.
The Sachse sophomore is the first Red Raider midfielder to earn a preseason nod since senior Taylor Lytle was placed on the team in 2011. Harr's selection marks the eighth-straight year Tech has had representation on the squad, which is voted on by the league's coaches.
In 2016, Harr racked up seven points during an injury-shortened freshman season. She led the Red Raiders with three assists, while also tallying two goals over 14 matches played. She finished the year with 21 shots, including nine on goal.
Harr had a collegiate debut to remember, scoring both tallies in Tech's 2-1 season-opening victory over New Mexico. Her performance earned her Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors on Aug. 23, the first for a Red Raider since Oct. 21, 2014, and the 10th overall in program history.
She also served up three assists over the next 10 contests, setting up markers against Northeastern (Aug. 28), Abilene Christian (Sept. 4) and Iowa State (Sept. 25). When Harr found her way onto the score sheet, Tech recorded a win, going 4-0 over that stretch of play.
For her efforts, Harr was a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 Freshman team with teammate Jade King to cap the 2016 campaign and helped Tech to its fifth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Harr and the Red Raiders head to Denver for their annual preseason exhibition against the Pioneers on Saturday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. Tech will open the 2017 regular season in Albuquerque at the Lobo Invitational against Grand Canyon (5 p.m.) on Aug. 18 and San Francisco (2 p.m.) on Aug. 20.
