Texas Tech to Hold Labor Day Ticket Special Monday
September 03, 2017 | Football
Tickets for the Sept. 16 game against Arizona State will be cut to $25 as part of a Labor Day special
LUBBOCK, Texas – Fresh off the Red Raiders' 56-10 rout of Eastern Washington Saturday afternoon, Texas Tech Athletics has announced a Labor Day special for tickets to the Sept. 16 showdown with Arizona State at Jones AT&T Stadium.
Â
Tickets will be reduced to $25 per person in certain sections as part of the 24-hour sale that will be available only online at TexasTech.com Monday. Fans should use the promo code "LABORDAY" to take advantage of the Labor Day special.
Â
Backed by an accurate debut from quarterback Nic Shimonek, the Red Raiders found the endzone on seven-consecutive offensive possessions en route to opening their 15th-straight season with a victory. That streak now ranks third nationally behind only Ohio State and Alabama.
Â
Shimonek, making his first collegiate start, finished 26-of-30 for 384 yards and three touchdowns before leaving the game late in the third quarter with the lead in hand. He started the game a perfect 14-of-14 on pass attempts, falling just one completion shy of matching the Tech single-game record
Â
Possibly even more impressive, though, was the play of a Red Raider defense that held Eastern Washington to just 301 yards of total offense. The Eagles, who returned 5,000-yard passer Gage Gubrud, had averaged 46.3 points per game in their last three meetings against FBS foes such as Washington (2014), Oregon (2015) and Washington State (2016).
Â
The Red Raiders will have two full weeks to prepare for the Sun Devils, who opened their season with a 37-31 victory over New Mexico State on Thursday night. Arizona State will host San Diego State this Saturday before making its first trip ever to Jones AT&T Stadium the following weekend.
Â
Ticket packages are still available for each of the remaining five home games this season. To purchase tickets or for questions, please contact the Tech Ticket Office at 806-742-TECH. The Tech Ticket Office will be closed Monday in observance of Labor Day.
