Softball’s Home Opener Against ACU Rescheduled

The Red Raiders will now open their home slate Friday at 4 p.m. against Northwestern State.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech softball home opener set for Wednesday against Abilene Christian has been rescheduled due to winter weather projected in Lubbock that evening. The game will now be played Tuesday, May 1, at 6 p.m.
With the change, Tech's home opener is now set for Friday, Feb. 23, at 4 p.m. at Rocky Johnson Field as the Red Raiders host Northwestern State for the first of three games on the weekend. The two squads then play a doubleheader on Saturday set to begin at 12 p.m.
Tickets to all home games at Rocky Johnson Field are available online at www.TexasTech.com with pricing at $3 for kids (ages 2-17) and $5 for adults.
Texas Tech and ACU are scheduled to play twice during the 2018 season after three meetings in 2017. The Red Raiders will travel to Abilene, Texas, for a midweek game on Tuesday, April 10, where they earned a 2-1 victory last season.
Tech (4-5) will enter Friday's home opener coming off a 2-2 showing at the UCF Tournament in Orlando, Fla., where Tech picked up a 6-2 road win at UCF and a 4-2 victory against Hofstra.
