The Red Raiders take on LSU on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Bossier City
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech soccer concludes its six-match slate at the Spring Soccer Classic against LSU on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Bossier City, Louisiana.
The match will be played on the campus of First Baptist Church-Bossier City. It's the third annual Spring Classic, with Tech participating in all three matches in the event's history.
In 2015, the Red Raiders posted a 3-1 win over LSU and recorded a 6-0 victory over Northwestern State last season, to claim a 2-0 record at the Classic. This year, the Red Raiders will face the Tigers to wrap the spring slate in what head coach Tom Stone sees as the biggest test of the spring season.
"Our team is so different from last fall, so games like this are crucial for our development," Stone said. "We face an athletic SEC squad that will for sure challenge us in many ways. We need these games in the offseason and we can't thank First Baptist-Bossier enough for being such accommodating hosts for this wonderful event."
The Red Raiders are 4-1 through five matches this spring. Tech has picked up victories over New Mexico (4-1), West Texas A&M (2-0), Abilene Christian (4-0) and Oklahoma State (2-1). In their last contest, Tech dropped a 2-1 decision in a tough battle at Rice.
The Red Raiders put together a 9-7-3 record during the 2017 fall season, missing postseason play for the first time in six years. Tech will return the bulk of its core, graduating four seniors, while adding three mid-year enrollees and eight on National Signing Day to get ready for an exciting 2018 campaign.
