Tennis Athletes Named Academic All-Big 12

Texas Tech Tennis had nine academic honorees
IRVING, Texas – The Texas Tech men's and women's tennis teams had nine players named to the Academic All-Big 12 teams, the conference officials announced Tuesday.
Texas Tech had eight of its nine selections named to the first team that consists of student-athletes who have maintained a 3.20 GPA or better.
On the women's side, Sarah Dvorak was one of seven athletes to compile a 4.0 GPA.
With his selection, Alex Sendegeya becomes the eighth player in program history to earn Academic All-Big 12 First Team accolades three times.
Sabrina Federici and Gabriela Talaba are the 10th and 11th Lady Raiders to secure a trio of Academic All-Big 12 First Team selections during their careers.
Dvorak and Alex Valenstein are two-time recipients with Academic All-Big 12 First Team accolades in back-to-back seasons.
Texas Tech will travel to the Big 12 Championships this weekend held at the Texas Tennis Center on the University of Texas campus.
The no. 6 seed Red Raiders meet no. 3 Oklahoma during Friday's quarterfinal round at noon. The Lady Raiders earned the no. 3 seed and will take on no. 6-seeded Kansas State in Friday's quarterfinal round at 3 p.m.
