Volleyball Celebrates Strong Spring in the Classroom
June 04, 2018 | Women's Volleyball, Academics
Six Red Raiders named to the 2018 President’s List.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech volleyball team built off one of its best seasons in recent history with a successful spring in the classroom that saw six Red Raiders named to the Spring 2018 President's List and several more named to the Dean's List.
Â
Kyndal Cowan, Haley Harman, Emily Hill, Haley Killinger, Emerson Solano and Allison White all posted perfect 4.00 GPAs to land on the President's List. Cowan, who was memorably placed on scholarship following winter break, has recorded a 4.00 GPA for four straight semesters and holds a 3.92 cumulative mark overall.
Â
The success didn't stop there as seven more Red Raiders earned 3.50 GPAs or better for recognition on the Dean's List. Included among those were Katy Keenan, Sarah Redding, Kylie Rittimann, Maggie Sagers and Alex Kirby.
Â
"I'm very proud of our academic success this year and appreciate the team's commitment and effort," head coach Tony Graystone said. "It's great to see our players take pride in what they do in the classroom and to work so closely with our academic team. Everyone at the Marsha Sharp Center does an amazing job, and we appreciate their support."
Â
These marks are especially impressive for Kirby and Killinger, a pair of early enrollees from the 2018 signing class, as this spring was their first semester on campus.
Â
As a team, the Red Raiders closed the spring with a 3.52 GPA, one of six Texas Tech teams with a term GPA over 3.30. This spring marked the highest department-wide term GPA in Tech Athletics history.
Â
Key to the academic success is the Marsha Sharp Center for Student-Athletes, which boasts a state-of-the-art facility designed to ensure academic achievement for each student-athlete. Responsibility for academic success rests with each Red Raider, and assistance by the Marsha Sharp Center staff – with full support of the Texas Tech coaching staff – helps those student-athletes attain their academic goals.
