Tech Baseball Turns In Strong Fall in the Classroom

Red Raiders record highest team GPA of Tadlock’s tenure for second-consecutive fall.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech baseball program recorded another strong academic semester as the Red Raiders compiled a 3.16 team grade-point average over the fall term.

It is the highest team GPA in head coach Tim Tadlock and his staff's tenure at Texas Tech. It marks the second-straight fall the Red Raiders have accomplished this feat after posting a 3.14 team GPA last fall.

Additionally, it contributed to the historic success of the Texas Tech athletics department as a whole, which compiled its eight-consecutive term with a department-wide term GPA above 3.0, posting for a 3.156 term GPA this fall. Furthermore, Texas Tech Athletics recorded its highest department-wide cumulative GPA in history of 3.256.

"We're proud of the work our guys put in to the classroom this fall, and the results continue to speak for themselves," Tadlock said. "We really appreciate the Marsha Sharp Center staff for their hard work and commitment to providing resources that help our student-athletes succeed academically."

The semester was highlighted by 24 student-athletes being named to the academic honor roll (3.0+ GPA), five of which were on the President's List (4.0 GPA), including Josh Jung (Communications Studies), Cody Masters (Business Management), Braxton Fulford (Business Finance), Clayton Beeter (Mechanical Engineering), and Trey Garlett (undeclared).

Tech's other academic honor roll selections include: senior Cameron Warren (M.Ed. Higher Education), juniors Carson Carter (Business Management), Caleb Freeman (University Studies), Caleb Kilian (Business – Construction Management), sophomores Bryce Bonnin (undeclared), Parker Kelly (Sport Management), Jacob McDonald (Kinesiology), Easton Murrell (undeclared), Ryan Sublette (Business Management) and freshmen Dru Baker (undeclared), Cade Farr (undeclared), Noah Huerta (English), Brock Martin (Personal Financial Planning), Max Marusak (Public Relations), Mason Montgomery (undeclared), Tanner O'Tremba (undeclared), T.J. Rumfield (undeclared) and Cole Stilwell (Communications Studies).
