Lady Raiders Continue Impressive Play at ITA Regionals

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis team turned in another handful of impressive performances on Friday at the ITA Texas Regional Championships. Three Lady Raiders earned wins in singles to advance to the main draw round of 16, while Olivia Peet and Margarita Skriabrina picked up a top-20 doubles win to move on to the quarterfinals.

Friday's competition began in doubles, as Peet and Skriabrina earned a pair of wins to clinch an appearance in Saturday's quarterfinals. The Lady Raider duo first defeated TCU's Addy Guevara and Margaret Polk, 8-5, before handling Rice's Michaela Haet and Linda Huang, 8-2, in the round of 16. Haet and Huang were seeded second in the bracket, and ranked as the No. 16 doubles team in the country. Peet and Skriabrina will match up with No. 7 seeds Jessica Anzo and Lucia Quitero of Texas A&M in the quarterfinals.

Lady Raiders Reagan Collins and Isa Di Laura snagged a win in their first doubles match of the day as well, knocking off Abilene Christian's Claire Fisher and Illeana Mocciola, 8-4; however, the tandem was defeated in the second round by ninth-seeded Anna Bowtell and Victoria Smirnova.

Di Laura kept rolling with a three-set win over Rice's Diae El Jardi in the round of 32. The Tech sophomore pulled out the 6-2, 6-7(3), 7-5 win to set up a match with the tournament's top seed—No. 28 Katya Townsend of Texas A&M—in the quarterfinals.

Skriabrina picked up her second win of the weekend with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Texas A&M's Renee McBryde. The Lady Raider freshman will face Lexi Ryngler of Texas on Saturday for a spot in the quarterfinals.

Freshman Lisa Mays handled TCU's Margaret Polk, 6-2, 6-2, in her round of 32 match. She will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Mariya Shumeika in the round of 16 on Saturday.
