Texas Tech Concludes Play in Tempe

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Texas Tech women's tennis team wrapped up action at the Thunderbird Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Raiders won two doubles matches and a singles match on the final day of the tournament.

Lady Raiders Lisa Mays and Nell Miller got things started with a 7-5 victory over San Diego's Daniela Morales and Maria Tyrina for the duo's second victory of the weekend. Isa Di Laura also earned her third doubles win of the event, teaming up with Arizona State's Savannah Slaysman to defeat Maeve Koscielski and Zoe Taylor, 6-1.

Kennedy Bridgforth and Reagan Collins came up short to San Diego's Francati and Muljat in a tiebreaker, 7-6(2).

Mays earned the lone Texas Tech singles win of the day, defeating Washington's Katarina Kopcalic, 6-0, 6-3. Miller came close to a ranked victory, taking No. 54 Vanessa Wong of Washington to three sets. Wong would hold on, however, taking the 5-7, 6-4, 1-0(5) win.

The conclusion of the event marks the end of the Lady Raiders' fall season. The fall portion of Tech's schedule was highlighted by Miller and sophomore Olivia Peet sweeping the Midland Raquet Club Collegiate Tennis Classic finals, with Peet taking the singles title and the pair teaming up to win doubles.

Texas Tech will be back in action beginning on Jan. 10 when they travel to Orlando, Fla., to compete at the Orlando Invitational.
