Lady Raiders Win Five on Day Two in Tempe

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Texas Tech women's tennis team continued play at the Thunderbird Invitational on Saturday, winning five of eight matches on the day.

In singles on Saturday morning, Tech matched up with Notre Dame and was able to split with the Irish. Nell Miller dropped Maeve Koscielski in a 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-2 match for her first singles win of the weekend. Isa Di Laura defeated Zoe Taylor, 6-3, 6-2, in her match.

Lisa Mays and Kennedy Bridgforth both came up short in three sets. Lady Raider Reagan Collins competed in singles as well on Saturday, falling to Julia Deming of Kansas.

Play would then move to doubles, where Texas Tech was paired with Michigan. The Lady Raiders picked up wins in both doubles matches against the Wolverines. Mays and Miller handled Chiara Lommer and Bella Lorenzini, 6-2. Meanwhile, Bridgforth and Collins knocked off Nicole Hammond and Anca Craciun, 6-4.

Di Laura teamed up with Arizona State's Sammi Hampton to defeat Kansas State's Margot Decker and Anna Turco, 7-6(5).

Sunday's action in Tempe will start at 10 a.m. CT with doubles, followed by singles beginning at 12:30 p.m. CT.
