Miller, Mays off to Strong Start at Norman Open

NORMAN, Okla. – Texas Tech women's tennis players Nell Miller and Lisa Mays are off to a strong start this week at the Norman Open, a USTA Pro Circuit event at the Headington Family Tennis Center.

Miller went 2-0 in qualifying singles action to clinch a spot in the main draw. The Lady Raider sophomore defeated Khrystyna Vozniak of Ukraine, 6-0, 6-1, in the first round, followed by a 6-1, 6-1 win over Brooke Thompson to claim her spot in the main draw.

Miller will play Muskan Mahajan in the first round of main draw play on Wednesday.

Mays and Miller advanced in doubles main draw action on Tuesday as well, knocking off the tournament's second-seeded duo of Lorraine Guillermo and Kennedy Shaffer, 7-6(3), 4-6, 10-8.

The Texas Tech tandem will face Keisha Clousing and Emma Davis on Wednesday.
