Junior earns academic all-district First Team honors for second straight season
LUBBOCK, Texas – Junior forward Brittany Brewer was named to the Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team for the second straight season.
Â
Brewer was the third Lady Raider in program history to earn this distinction and is the only player to earn it in back-to-back seasons.
Â
Brewer was one of five student-athletes selected to the District 7 team. The Abilene, Texas, native is joined on the team by Mikayla Ferenz (Idaho), Amanda Johnson (Houston Baptist), Clara Tapia (Wyoming), and Peyton Williams (Kansas State).
Â
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in March.
Â
To be nominated, a player must be at least a sophomore, have a 3.30 cumulative GPA and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
Â
Brewer is currently pursuing a degree in Community, Family and Addiction Sciences and has a 4.0 cumulative GPA. She is the third Lady Raider in program history to earn a spot on the Academic All-District First Team along with Erin Grant (2006) and Jolee Ayers-Curry (2004).
