Brown signed with Texas Tech after an explosive high school career in Chicago
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells capped his first signing class with the Red Raiders Wednesday evening as four-star athlete Alante Brown inked a National Letter of Intent with the university during a ceremony in his hometown of Chicago.
Â
Brown, who had offers from the likes of Michigan State, Florida State, Pittsburgh, and Iowa State, becomes the seventh signee to commit to the Red Raiders on National Signing Day, completing an impressive first class under Wells and his staff.
Â
"I'm really excited to add Alante to our Red Raider football family," Wells said. "I have a lot of respect for Alante, his mom and his coaches for how he handled the recruiting process. He was very honest and communicative and that is what you want as a coach. He's explosive with the ball in his hands, and we can't wait to get him to Lubbock."
Â
One of the most explosive players in the country this past season, Brown threw for 41 touchdowns and rushed for 12 more en route to leading Simeon High School to the prestigious city of Chicago championship title. He earned All-State honors as an athlete and All-Area accolades as a quarterback.
Â
Brown, a three-year starter at Simeon, was listed as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, which ranked him as the No. 4 recruit in the entire state of Illinois. He was also a three-star signee by both Rivals and ESPN.
