Allen, Wesley Arrive at NFL Scouting Combine

Wesley will begin on-field drills at the NFL Combine on Saturday followed by Allen on Sunday
LUBBOCK, Texas – Dakota Allen and Antoine Wesley will look to impress league executives from all 32 teams this weekend when the Texas Tech letterwinners take part in the NFL Scouting Combine held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The NFL Network will cover the combine in its entirety as Wesley and Allen will look to make their NFL dreams closer to reality. Wesley will be the first Red Raider to hit the combine floor for on-field workouts Saturday afternoon followed by Allen on Sunday.

The combine presents a tremendous opportunity to climb draft boards for both Allen and Wesley, who will be tested in the bench press, 40-yard dash, vertical jump, broad jump and shuttle run. They will both participate in on-field drills as well, especially Wesley, who will be monitored in route drills with various quarterbacks.

In addition to the on-field drills, the combine is also known for its rigorous slate of meetings with team executives and doctors from across the league. Allen and Wesley began this process earlier this week, which included official measurements and medical exams.

Allen will be looking to improve his draft stock after an impressive three-year career as a Red Raider, which was highlighted by All-Big 12 first team honors in 2018. Allen wrapped his career with 262 career tackles, including a team-leading 102 in 2017, to go along with 18.5 tackles for a loss, four interceptions, 11 passes defended, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.

Wesley, meanwhile, had a breakout year as a junior in 2018 after hauling in an impressive 88 passes for 1,410 yards and nine touchdowns. He concluded the season ranked second nationally in receiving yards per game (117.5) and third in receiving yards en route to earning first team All-America honors by the Football Writers Association of America.

Allen and Wesley will have one more opportunity to impress NFL scouts following the combine as Texas Tech will host its annual Pro Day event on March 25 inside the Sports Performance Center. The 2019 NFL Draft begins one month later, running April 25-27 in Nashville.
