No. 10 Red Raiders Set to Compete at Lake Charles Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 10-ranked Texas Tech men's golf team will compete at the Lake Charles Toyota Invitational which is being played at The Country Club at The Golden Nugget on Monday and Tuesday in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
The 54-hole tournament will have the Red Raiders and the 18-team field play 36 holes on Monday before completing the event with 18 on Tuesday. Texas Tech, which rose to No. 10 in the nation after a fourth-place finish at the Southern Highlands Collegiate two weeks ago, is making its first trip to the tournament that is being hosted by McNeese State.
The Red Raiders will be represented at the tournament by Sandy Scott, Ivan Ramirez, Adam Blomme, Kyle Hogan and Jansen Smith, while Markus Braadlie and Thomas Allkins will be playing as individuals. Scott is currently ranked No. 24 nationally and was named to the Haskins Award Watch List last week. Scott and Ramirez also earned spots on the Arnold Palmer Cup International Team. Ramirez is ranked No. 33 coming into this week's tournament in Louisiana after placing ninth at the Southern Highlands Collegiate with a 72-71-70 – 213. Blomme tied Ramirez for ninth at the event after shooting 71-70-72 – 213. Blomme also led the Red Raiders by finishing as the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate runner-up with a 69-70-70 – 209 on Feb. 24, while Scott finished fourth at that event with a 211 to help lead Texas Tech to the tournament title.
Texas Tech will compete this week against McNeese State, TCU, Nicholls State, Texas State, Missouri State, Southeastern Louisiana, Louisiana-Lafayette, Rice, Louisiana-Monroe, UTSA, New Orleans, Little Rock, Lamar, SFA, Arkansas and Team Sweden. The program is playing in Louisiana for the first time since competing at the Louisiana Classic in 2004.
The Red Raiders have three regular-season tournaments remaining with the Lake Charles Invitational to be followed by the Aggie Invitational on April 6-7 in College Station and then the El Macero Classic on April 12014 in El Macero, California. The tournaments will lead into the Big 12 Conference Championships on April 26-28 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
