Volleyball Stands Ground at West Texas A&M Tournament

The Red Raiders went 3-0-1 in their second tournament of the spring.
CANYON, Texas – The Texas Tech volleyball team continued its spring slate with a strong, 3-0-1 showing at the West Texas A&M Tournament, Saturday at WTAMU Fieldhouse.

The Red Raiders opened up the day with a pair of 25-15 set wins over Frank Phillips College before downing Otero Junior College, 25-19, 25-14. After a small break, Tech continued its winning ways with a 25-22, 25-23 victory over Seward.

In its final match of the day, Tech dropped a 25-23 first set to host West Texas A&M. However, Tech recovered quickly and came back to tie the match, 1-1, thanks to a 25-22 win in set two.

Emily Hill led Tech with a commanding 30 kills while four other Red Raiders – Brooke Kanas (21), Hannah Allison (17), Haley Harman (16) and Cadi Boyer – recorded double-digit kills. Stepping up in her first spring season, Boyer paced the Red Raiders with 12 blocks and Allison and Kanas both tallied 10.

Setting Tech up for success, Alex Kirby collected 81 assists and Audrey Smith finished the day with seven. Kylie Rittimann (30) and Emerson Solano (33) combined for 63 of Tech's 156 digs and Hill followed closely behind with 21.
