Texas Tech places two golfers in top-12 after 18 holes of play

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's golf team finished the first day of the Big 12 Championships in Broken Arrow, Okla. in a tie for seventh place, following an opening round score of 17-over par.

The Red Raiders were led by freshmen Anna Dong and Cecilie Nielsen, who each shot 3-over in their first postseason action to finish the first round in a tie for 12th. Nielsen had a team-leading four birdies and an eagle during her first round, while Dong managed one birdie and 13 pars.

Senior Mami Yamamoto and sophomore Sofia Garcia also finished in the top-30, as Yamamoto completed her day at 5-over to place herself in a tie for 27th, while Garcia carded a 6-over round, good enough for a tie for 30th.

Louisa Brunt concluded Sunday's action at 10-over, placing her in a tie for 41st place.
