Lady Raider Tennis Earn No. 4 Seed at Big 12 Championship

Texas Tech to face No. 5 seed Oklahoma on Friday
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 27 Texas Tech Women's Tennis team heads to Lawrence, Kan., for the Big 12 Championship this week as the No. 4 seed.

The Lady Raiders are scheduled to face No. 5-seed Oklahoma on Friday at 3 p.m.

Texas Tech finished the season with a 16-7 overall record and a 6-3 record in Big 12 play, good for a fourth place finish in the Big 12 standings. The Lady Raiders' season was highlighted by four wins over nationally ranked opponents including a 4-2 win over No. 22 Illinois.

Felicity Maltby has had an outstanding senior season. She closed out the season with a 19-6 record overall and 17-5 in dual match play. Maltby has also posted an 8-1 record in Big 12 play and has picked up seven wins against ranked opponents. In the last three matches of the season, Maltby captured three wins over ranked opponents including a win over No. 17 Bianca Turati (Texas) marking her highest ranked win of her career. She has won 10 of her last 11 matches and is currently on a five-match win streak.

Senior Lana Rush has had a great season at the No. 6 position for the Lady Raiders. She has posted a 12-2 record when playing at the No. 6 position and is 6-2 in Big 12 play. In her two seasons at Tech, Rush has an 18-4 record marking the fourth best record in school history.

Denise-Antonela Stoica has been key for the Lady Raiders this season. In her rookie season, Stoica has posted a 13-6 record in dual matches and a 5-2 record in Big 12 play. She is currently 10-2 when playing at the no. 4 position and has clinched seven match points for the Lady Raiders with her play in singles.

Freshman Kennedy Bridgforth has added some depth to the middle of the lineup for the Lady Raiders. She has posted a 5-3 record when playing at the No. 3 position and is 5-3 in her first Big 12 season.

In doubles play, Maltby and Nell Miller have teamed up to play at the No. 1 and No. 2 position. The pair has an 11-7 record in dual matches and is 7-2 when playing on court two.

Doubles duo Reagan Collins and Olivia Peet have played well together this season on court three. They are 3-2 against Big 12 opponents and have won three of their last four matches together.
