Scott Promoted to Next Round of Haskins Watch List

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech junior Sandy Scott has been advanced on the Haskins Award Watch List which was narrowed down from 25 to 15 on Wednesday. The Haskins Award honors the player of the year in men's college golf and is chosen by college golfers, coaches and members of the college golf media.
A Scotland native, Scott is coming off his first tournament win of the season when he shot 3-under-par and won the El Macero Classic in California. He finished as the runner-up at the Lake Charles Invitational at 13-under and has five top-10 finishes this season coming into this week's Big 12 Conference Championship at The Greenbrier in Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Scott is currently ranked No. 15 in the GolfStat rankings with his 70.14 adjusted scoring average for the season.
Scott is joined on the watch list by Matt Wolff (Oklahoma State), Viktor Hovland (Oklahoma State), Collin Morikawa (California), Justin Suh (USC), Alex Smalley (Duke), John Pak (Florida State), Will Gordon (Vanderbilt), Chun An Yu (Arizona State), Cole Hammer (Texas), Trent Phillips (Georgia), Austin Eckroat (Oklahoma State), Peter Kuest (BYU), Bryson Nimmer (Clemson) and Brandon Wu (Stanford).
The final Haskins Award Watch List will be cut to 10 and released after the NCAA Regional tournaments. The winner of this season's Haskins Award will be announced on June 4 during Golf Central on the Golf Channel.
Oregon's Norman Xiong won the Haskins Award last season.
