Scott Named Semifinalist for Jack Nicklaus Award

NORMAN, Okla. – Texas Tech junior Sandy Scott has been named a semifinalists for the 2019 Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Barbasol.
A Scotland native, Scott is currently at No. 13 in the Golfstat rankings with six top-10 finishes this season. He won the El Macero Classic last month for his first collegiate victory after shooting 3-under-par (75-66-72 – 213) and followed that performance by taking fifth at the Big 12 Conference Championship two weeks ago at The Greenbrier where he was at 5-under following his three rounds. Scott also has a runner-up finish on his season's resume, shooting 13-under at the Lake Charles Invitational.
Scott and the Red Raiders are playing the Myrtle Beach Regional this week in South Carolina with the opening round today, followed by rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday at the TPC Myrtle Beach Golf Course. Along with being named a semifinalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award, Scott is also on the Haskins Watch List and earned a spot on the Arnold Palmer Cup International team along with teammate Ivan Ramirez.Â
Nicklaus Award recipients will be announced May 30 with the honor presented by Jack Nicklaus at a ceremony during the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide at Muirfield Village Golf Club. In addition to receiving the Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award, the five recipients will compete in the Barbasol Shootout for an exemption into the PGA TOUR's Barbasol Championship, held July 18-21, at the Champions at Keene Trace in Lexington, Ky. The Barbasol Shootout will be held Saturday, June 1 at The Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio - the same club where Jack Nicklaus played collegiate golf for the Buckeyes.
