Tech Baseball Places 11 on Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team

Program-record 11 Red Raiders garner first team accolades.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech baseball produced 11 student-athletes on the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 First Team, the league office announced today.

Redshirt freshman reliever Clayton Beeter highlighted the selections as one of four student-athletes from around the conference to be nominated with a 4.00 grade point average.

Beeter is joined on the first team by senior Cameron Warren, juniors Caleb Freeman, Josh Jung, Caleb Kilian and Brian Klein and sophomores Braxton Fulford, Gabe Holt, Parker Kelly, Cody Masters and Ryan Sublette.

Texas Tech's 11 first team honorees are the most in program history, topping the previous high of eight from 2018 and 2016. It also marks consecutive years Warren, Jung, Kilian and Klein have received first team accolades.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
