Women's Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Honors

Seven Lady Raiders earned ITA All-Academic nods.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's tennis program, as well as seven student-athletes, earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic awards.

Posting an impressive 3.70 team GPA, this year marks the 11th time in 12 seasons that the Lady Raiders have come away with ITA's prestigious team award. Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and West Virginia were the other Big 12 teams to receive academic nods.

Individually, seven Lady Raiders were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. Lana Rush and Francesca Sella represented the Lady Raiders' senior class while Reagan Collins was the lone junior to earn academic honors. Additionally, freshmen Kennedy Bridgforth, Isa Di Laura, Sydney Jones and Denise-Antonela Stoica all picked up the postseason accolade.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2018 and spring 2019).
