Patrick Mahomes will face his former teammate in Keke Coutee Sunday afternoon in Kansas City
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech will have three of its former letterwinners in the NFL Playoffs this weekend in Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II, Houston Texans wide receiver Keke Coutee and Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Branden Jackson.
Â
Coutee was on the receiving end of 50-plus passes from Mahomes during their time together at Tech but will find themselves on opposite sidelines when the Texans visit Kansas City for a 2:05 p.m. kickoff Sunday. Television coverage for that game will be provided on CBS.
Â
Jackson will follow later that afternoon on FOX when the Seahawks travel to Green Bay for a 5:40 p.m. kickoff. Seattle will be looking for its second road win in as many weeks after the Seahawks topped the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round.
Â
This is Jackson's third year on the Seahawks roster as he is in the midst of his best professional season with 20 tackles and a pair of sacks over 15 games (three starts). He began his professional career with the Oakland Raiders after signing as an undrafted free agent following his Red Raider career.
Â
Coutee, meanwhile, has caught 22 passes for 254 yards entering this weekend as he has played in nine games during his second season with the Texans. Houston selected the Lufkin native in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft after he exploded for 1,429 yards and 10 touchdowns off 93 passes as a junior in 2017.
Â
He spent two years catching passes for Mahomes, who has followed his MVP season from a year ago with another impressive showing for the Chiefs. He has completed 65.9 percent of his passes thus far, resulting in 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns through the air despite missing two games due to injury.
Â
The list of Red Raiders participating in the NFL Playoffs this weekend does not include two other letterwinners in Cameron Batson (Titans) and Antoine Wesley (Ravens), who are either on injured reserve or the practice squad. Â
