Lady Raiders Finish Play in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla.  – The Texas Tech women's tennis team finished up action at the season-opening Orlando Invitational on Sunday morning, playing No. 8 NC State in doubles and Rice in singles. The final day of the tournament featured two ranked wins for the Lady Raiders.

Margarita Skriabina, Lisa Mays and Reagan Collins each earned straight-set singles wins on Sunday. Skriabina defeated Michaela Haet, 6-2, 6-2, for her second-straight win, while Lisa Mays picked up a ranked win over No. 86 Anastasia Smirnova in a 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Collins finished off an undefeated weekend with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Diae El Jardi in her final match of the event.

Sophomore Olivia Peet dropped a tough, 6-3, 6-3, bout to Victoria Smirnova. Nell Miller came up short in three sets to Linda Huang, 5-7, 7-6, 8-10. Bojana Marinkov fell, 7-6, 6-3, to Priya Niezgoda, Kennedy Bridgforth lost, 6-0, 6-0 to Anna Bowtell and Isa Di Laura dropped her match, 6-2, 6-4, to Madeline Meredith.

In doubles, Mays and Miller picked up a big ranked win over No. 22 Jaeda Daniel and Adriana Reami of NC State. In other doubles action, Peet and Marinkov came up short to Lexi Keberle and Liz Norman, 6-4, and Skriabina and Bridgforth lost, 6-2, to Marta Gonzales-Ballbe and Dylan Cannon.

The Lady Raiders will return to the court this Friday when they play LSU in Austin in round one of ITA Kickoff Weekend.
