Red Raider Golf Signs Two for 2021-22 Class

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's golf program stayed in the state of Texas and went to Sweden to sign a pair of talented players to join the team for the 2021-22 season. Head coach Greg Sands announced the additions on Friday, signing Seth Bearden from Crowell, Texas and Gustav Andersson who is from Staffanstrop, Sweden.
Bearden is a two-time Class 1A State Champion, winning the titles in 2018 and 2019 for Crowell High School. He also earned a runner-up finish at the 2020 Lanny Wadkins tournament and played in the Texas Amateur and Texas Junior Amateur tournaments this year. Along with his golf success, Bearden competes in football, basketball, tennis and cross country at Crowell. He plans on majoring in Sports Management at Texas Tech.
Andersson signs with the Red Raiders as the top Swedish amateur under 20-years-old. He is at 171 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and has played for the Swedish national team for four years. Andersson won the Stenson Sunesson Junior Challenge in 2019 and finished as the runner-up at the Duncan Putter and the Major Champions Invitational at the Lookout Mountain Golf Club in Arizona. He also secured third at the European Boys Team Championship and German Boys Open along with a sixth-place finish at the V Sport Golf Challenge at PGA Sweden National. He has racked up seven wins during his junior career. He chose Texas Tech over Florida State, Arizona State and Augusta. Andersson plans on majoring in General Business at Texas Tech.
