Red Raiders Travel to Kansas for Fall Finale

Texas Tech volleyball closes the fall season in Lawrence, Kansas on Thursday and Friday.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech volleyball team will wrap up the 2020 fall season on the road as they take on Kansas on Thursday and Friday night. Both matches are set for 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
Texas Tech (5-9) is 17-32 against Kansas (3-9) all-time and have not won in Lawrence since 2006. The Red Raiders most recently defeated the Jayhawks last season, winning in five sets at United Supermarkets Arena.
LAST TIME OUT
The Red Raiders had a fantastic outing against Oklahoma last week, besting the Sooners twice. Tech picked up its first win against Oklahoma since 2015 on Thursday night and its first sweep of the Sooners since 2005 on Friday.
Seniors Samantha Sanders and Emerson Solano had a strong week leading the team to victory. Sanders tallied 23 kills on Thursday, one kill shy of tying her career-high, and 11 more on Friday to lead the squad. Solano's 19 digs paced the Red Raiders on Thursday and another 15 on Friday gave her 34 on the weekend, averaging 4.86 digs per set.

- Solano ranks third in the Big 12 in digs per set and 20th in the nation with a 4.34 average. She is 16th in the nation in total digs with 230. Solano has recorded double-digit digs in 13-of-14 matches this season including four matches with 20+ digs and a season-high of 24 against Iowa State on Oct. 3. She moved into fifth place in program history in digs last Thursday when she tallied the 1,271st dig of her career.
- Samantha Sanders sits at seventh in the Big 12 in kills with 181, averaging 3.42 kills per set. The Texas A&M transfer leads the team with 11 double-digit kill performances including three matches with 20+ kills and a season-high of 24 against TCU on Oct. 9.
- Caitlin Dugan has had an impressive sophomore season with 110 kills, averaging 2.75 per set, the second-best mark on the team. Dugan tallied 16 kills while hitting .367 against Oklahoma on Thursday. The previous week she recorded a season-best .412 attack percentage with 16 kills against No. 11 Kansas State.
- Senior middle blocker Allison Bloss is 10 block assists away from moving into fifth place in program history in block assists. Bloss has a team-best 36 on the season with two matches remaining. She also ranks fourth in the Big 12 in hitting percentage with a .348 clip.
- Red Raider setter Alex Kirby ranks third in the Big 12 in assists per set averaging 9.76. She leads the team in double-doubles with five on the season. Against the Sooners, Kirby contributed 44 assists on Thursday with eight digs and four kills. She added 30 digs on Friday with five kills and nine digs, plus one ace.
