Red Raiders conclude home meet with exciting Saturday.

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech ended its best home meet in school history in exciting fashion Saturday. A host of strong Tech performances keeps the excitement going as the Red Raiders prep for next weekend's trip to Albuquerque, where they will preview the nationals track.

D'Jenne Egharevba concluded an outstanding weekend on the track, running a program top-10 time each time she set up the blocks. After two races in the 60m Friday, Egharevba used her Saturday to run a season-best 23.44 – the ninth-best time in school history. It's her third top-10 200m time as a Red Raider.

The season bests keep coming from @DDJenne, who runs the second-fastest indoor 200m of her career and claims yet another program top-10 mark with a 23.44!

Tech's women also continued to put together strong relays Saturday. The foursome of Jadsia Warden, Amanda Crawford, Le-Taija Jackson and Lexye Price timed 3:37.54 for the ninth-best time in the country. Crawford split 53.51 in the second leg before Jackson and Price brought home the top-10 national time. It counts as a season best for the group by nearly a full second.

The men's 4x400 was exciting as well. Despite not standing as a top-10 time, Tech's second section victory came with plenty of excitement. First legs by Ryan Champlin and Sven Cepus led into Lavone Brown's third leg. The sophomore gained ground on first-place Arizona before handing off to Alfred Chawonza, who split 47.75 to win a foot race with Arizona's Donovan Jordan-Scott and Ohio State's Tyler Johnson, who were breathing down Chawonza's neck the final 100m.

Middle distance saw Takieddine Hedeilli turn in an exciting 1:48.50 in a blazing 800m. The grad transfer, who is being prepared to bid for a spot at nationals in the mile, ran the eighth-ranked 800m time in the world Saturday. He was followed by Sven Cepus and Alfred Chawonza, both of whom nearly PR'd in the quick heat.

The distance group was paced by Claudrice McKoy, who PR'd in the mile with a time of 5:11.31. The mark was good for sixth in a strong field. Her career best was answered on the men's side by Nathan Gift, whose 8:48.17 was also good for a PR. The women's 3000m was highlighted by Nokuthula Dlamini in her season debut following a long cross country campaign. The senior ran 10:25.58 to place sixth.

Perhaps the most encouraging return for Tech came from Zuliat Alli, who competed for the first time since 2018 after missing all of last year due to injury. Alli, a senior from Balch Springs, not only emerged from the long jump healthy but did so with the sixth-best distance in the Big 12 this season at 19'-8.75" (6.01m). The mark was no one-time thing, either, with three of her six jumps counting as top-10 conference marks this season.

Men's field was led by Justin Hall, who went 25'-3.25" (7.70m) in the long jump for the second weekend in a row. The senior finished fifth overall and third among collegians. Finishing ahead of him were former Red Raiders Odaine Lewis (25'-5.5") and Charles Brown (25'-4"), who were two of the numerous former collegians and professionals competing at the Sports Performance Center over the course of the weekend.

Another former Red Raider who came back to the SPC Saturday was Trey Culver, who turned in one of his best performances to date in the high jump. The 2018 graduate topped at 7'-5" (2.26m) to slide into the world top-10 at eighth.

Tech's next tests comes in the form of a new track. The Red Raiders will hit the road for the first time this season next weekend, making the quick trip to Albuquerque to get a preview of the ABQ Convention Center, which will host the 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships. The meet will run Friday to Saturday.
