Red Raiders in Eighth After First Day of Icon Invitational

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Texas Tech women's golf team concluded the first day of the Icon Invitational at 13-over in two rounds of play at the Icon Invitational, played at The Woodlands Country Club.
Tech will enter Tuesday's final round in eighth place and 13 shots back of a top-three finish.
The Red Raiders were headed by Anna Dong on Monday, as the junior completed her opening rounds at 2-over to tie for 19th place on the individual leaderboard. Dong rebounded from a first-round tally of 75 to go 1-under in the second round. Sofia Garcia and Gala Dumez closely followed Dong on Monday, as the pair both finished at 3-over and tied for 27th.
Amy Taylor rounded out team scoring for the Red Raiders and joined Dumez with a first-round 73 before shooting 5-over in the second round to tie for 43rd. Cecilie Nielsen bounced back from an opening 82 to record a 2-over second round, good enough to tie for 70th.
The Red Raiders are currently within three strokes of seventh-place North Texas, who finished at 10-over, and just four strokes behind host Houston at 9-over.
