LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech junior Kyle Hogan will compete at the Genesis Open Collegiate Showcase on Monday at the Riveria Country Club in Palisades, California with an opportunity to earn an exemption to appear in the PGA Tour's Genesis Open.
The college showcase features an individual stroke-play competition for the collegiate entries, with the low golfer earning a spot in The Genesis Invitational field. Hogan is scheduled to tee off at 10:40 a.m. (CST) on Monday.
The Collegiate Showcase also features a pro-am style event with teams comprised of a PGA TOUR pro and two amateurs representing their alma mater. Professionals expected to tee it up at Riviera on Monday include defending champion J.B. Holmes (Kentucky), Abraham Ancer (Odessa), Ryan Moore (UNLV), CT Pan (Washington), Andrew Putnam (Pepperdine), Jhonattan Vegas (Texas) among others. The three-man pro-am teams compete against each other in best-ball play, with the lowest scoring team winning a $50,000 donation to the school's golf program. Hogan is currently ranked No. 8 nationally in the Golfstat rankings after a fall season where he recorded third-place finishes at the Iverness Intercollegiate and Tavistock Collegiate. He also helped the Red Raiders win the Big 12 Match Play Tournament and was 13th overall at 5-under at The Carmel Cup to open the season. A Cypress, Texas native, Hogan is coming off competing at the Amer Ari Intercollegiate in Hawaii where he finished the tournament at 2-over (72-72-74 – 218) in the first tournament of the spring. Hogan finished the 54-hole tournament with 12 birdies and 30 pars.
