LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech men's golf head coach Greg Sands announced on Monday the addition of Alvaro Pastor, a transfer from Tarleton State who recently completed his redshirt freshman season.
A native of Madrid, Spain, Pastor joins the Red Raiders following a standout season in which he earned WAC Player of the Year and WAC Freshman of the Year honors, along with first-team All-WAC recognition. He was also a three-time WAC Player of the Week selection during the 2025-26 campaign.
Pastor captured two individual titles during his debut collegiate season, winning the Golden Nugget Invitational at The Country Club at The Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and the All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas. He claimed medalist honors at the Golden Nugget Invitational after shooting 16-under-par 200 (65-66-69) and added a second victory at the All-American Intercollegiate with a 2-under-par 214 (77-66-71).
Furthering his significant impact on the Texans' program, Pastor helped lead Tarleton State to its first conference championship and NCAA Regional appearance in program history. He finished third individually at the WAC Championship at 1-under par to help secure the automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals. At the Marana Regional at The Gallery Golf Club, Pastor later tied for fifth individually at 12-under par (69-67-68), competing against one of the nation's strongest fields that included Alabama, Arizona, LSU and Oklahoma State.
Pastor established multiple program records during his lone competitive season with the Texans, setting school marks for the lowest 18-hole, 36-hole and 54-hole scores while posting the lowest scoring average in program history at 70.5. He recorded seven top-10 finishes and nine top-20 finishes over the course of the season.
Prior to college, Pastor attended Ortega y Gasset in Madrid and was ranked fifth nationally in Spain's U-18 rankings. He held a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) of No. 760 when he signed with Tarleton State.
Pastor joins a Texas Tech program that made its 24th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance in 2026 and returns first-team All-Big 12 selections Connor Graham, Adam Bresnu and Tim Wiedemeyer.
